About the Author

Arthur Michell Ransome was an English author and journalist. He is best known for writing the Swallows and Amazons series of children's books about the school-holiday adventures of children, mostly in the Lake District and the Norfolk Broads. A native of Wales, Gareth has recorded hundreds of audiobooks from James Herbert to Shakespeare, and all seventy six of George Simenon's 'Maigret' novels. On radio he has featured in plays, serials, poetry programmes, and documentaries. He has provided narratives for wildlife documentaries, played a wide range of characters in games, and dubbed many films and TV series. Other voice work includes audio guides and promos for American cable channels QVC and CNBC.
