About the Author

Anna Fienberg is the author of many popular and award-winning books for children of all ages. Her mother, Barbara Fienberg, an ex-librarian, is chief plot-deviser for the Tashi books. Kim Gamble has done splendid illustrations for many of Anna's books, and for books by other authors.

Kim Gamble's gray pencil sketches are simple but evoocative. They augment the sparse information given in the text, but leave the reader space to dream up the fuller picture. As a recent immigrant in a country of settlers, Tashi's situation may be seen as typically Australian, likewise his sassy attitude.
