This book is a comprehensive reference and practical guide on the technology and application of ultrasound to the musculoskeletal system. It is organized into two main sections. The first is devoted to general aspects, while the second provides a systematic overview of the applications of musculoskeletal ultrasound in different areas of the body. Each chapter of the second section provides an introduction on clinical anatomy and the essentials of clinical history and physical examination. Thereafter, performance of the ultrasound study is explained and the normal and pathological anatomy is reviewed. To assist in understanding, the ultrasound scans are correlated with drawings, photographs, images obtained using other modalities, and anatomic specimens. There is a generous complement of high-quality illustrations based on high-end equipment. This book contains a wealth of invaluable information.

From the reviews: "This book will serve as a terrific reading-room reference ... to learn how to apply the cross-sectional modality of US to the musculoskeletal system. Best of all, it is fascinating, readable, and extremely well illustrated ... . Each chapter is packed with pearls and is presented with clarity. ... The same level of clarity, quality, readability, and comprehensiveness carries through every topic in every chapter. ... It has the potential to be both an invaluable tutorial and a constantly used resource for subspecialist musculoskeletal radiologists." (Michael A. Bruno, Radiology, Vol. 252 (2), August, 2009)

This is THE definitive textbook on musculoskeletal ultrasound. Well worth the expense (although compared to some ultrasound texts, it's very reasonably priced). Don't consider the various other MSK books, just get this one and you have the lot covered. You will NEVER need another MSK book. Well written with good descriptions of anatomy and physiology, as well as line drawing and good quality B-mode images. Extensive pathology included in all areas. I have been scanning MSK for years, and have felt a bit uncertain at times. This text has sorted me out pronto!

Ask for it for Christmas while the exchange rate is so good.
