Isidra Sabio was born and raised in the Garifuna community of Cristales in Trujillo, Honduras. Isidra was the first Garifuna woman to graduate from the renowned University "Escuela Agricola Panamericana, El Zamorano" and completed a Master of Science degree from Lousiana State University. In 2007, Isidra received an award for the "Scientific Contribution" given by the President of Honduras. Currently, Isidra works in public health research studies in the United States y has published several coloring books through her publishing company Afro-Latin Publishing Inc. She also volunteers for several Garifuna Organizations.
