Karina Kilmore is a writer and newspaper journalist with more than 30 years' experience. Under the byline Karina Barrymore, she covered almost every major business scandal and financial event since the 1987 global share market crash and has written for US, UK, Australian and New Zealand publications. Her first novel, Where the Truth Lies, was a 2020 Ned Kelly Award finalist for best debut crime novel and was shortlisted for the prestigious Unpublished Manuscript Award at the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards in 2017. Born in Wellington, New Zealand, she now lives in Richmond in Melbourne. She is working on her second book.
Where the Truth Lies is a clever, gripping thriller with
complex characters and chilling secrets at its core. Karina
Kilmore’s flawed heroine takes us through Melbourne’s gritty
underside in a desperate quest to uncover the truth. The
investigative journalist battles to piece together a dark puzzle of
unexplained deaths, big business, trade unions and media
manipulation. I love her feistiness and determination to take on
the old boys’ network. This compelling story touches on so many
hot-button topics that you’ll keep thinking about it long after
you’ve finished the last page. A truly impressive debut.

fluently, her descriptions often lyrical. There’s every chance

will inform and analyse while it entertains’
