* David Cain is an artist, author, composer, performer, filmmaker, animator, producer, engineer, mixer, playwright, photographer, teacher, certified meditation instructor, reiki practitioner, reflexologist... * Cain studied music and composition at Illinois State University, where he was mentored by esteemed composer Roque Cordero. After graduation, he carved out a career making music, multimedia and art. * In 1984, Cain and his band Bux Da Hoota went on tour and signed on with the label of Geffen Records. * In 1983, David earned an Master's degree in communication and video from the University of Illinois at Springfield, where he developed what he calls, "Towards an Unbroken Media & Art" - the art of creating through film, dance and music. He is one of the founders of the Illinois Summer School for the Arts, a summer performing arts camp for gifted high school students at I.S.U.. * In 1988, he started his own company, UMEDIA, Inc., which is among the pioneers in the industry. * For the last two decades, Cain, who lives in the country with his wife, Jan, has developed UMEDIA while maintaining his love and passion for performing music and creating art. In 2005 he became a resident artist at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield, Illinois - his home away from home studio. * David is a certified Chopra Center instructor of Primordial Sound Meditation and offers a basic introduction to the health benefits and practice of meditation in his presentations. Here, David studied with Drs. Deepak Chopra and David Simon and continues to teach meditation at Chopra Center events whenever possible. In addition, he offers seminars & programs titled, "Hurry Up & Relax." * David Cain was nominated for a Grammy in 2007 for his CD "Looking for Your Face" (available on iTunes...) The CD is an exploration of jazzy, funky, soulful, bluesy, world & orchestral music.
