Carol Ryrie Brink is one of the best-known and most distinguished American writers for children. Caddie Woodlawn, published in 1935, was awarded the Newbery Medal, and her other well-loved books for children include Baby Island, The Pink Motel, Magical Melons, and Andy Buckram's Tin Men. Among her adult novels is Snow in the River. She and her husband live in La Jolla, California, and spend their summers on a lake in Wisconsin, the locale that is the setting for Winter Cottage.
"...the impetus of the story and the appeal of Minty's plight (which has its funny sides) can't be denied." -Kirkus Reviews
