Muriel Morris Gardiner Buttinger (November 23, 1901 - February 6, 1985) was an American psychoanalyst and psychiatrist.
Muriel Gardiner, in her introduction, writes: 'This book is unique. It contains the moving and very personal autobiography of the subject of a famous case in medical science as well as two psychoanalytic histories of the same person. Although our literature is filled with biographies and autobiographies of celebrated people, there is no other book which gives us the human story of a struggling, passionate individual, seen both from his own point of view and from that of the founder of psychoanalysis.'
