Rashad Hawkins was born Joshua Rashad Hawkins, on April 10th 1992, and hails from Jacksonville, Florida. He is a freelance writer and aspiring blogger. Rashad had always been known as a writer to his family, always creating short stories and comic book characters. He had always wanted to become a professional basketball player, however at the age of 10 his interests immediately changed when he wrote his first poem during a horrible summer staying at one of his aunt's house. After attending Douglas Anderson School of The Arts for Creative Writing, he attended Bethune Cookman University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Journalism. It was here that he was a staff writer on the school newspaper The Voice of the Wildcats, and was published in Daytona Beach News Journal. His poems have also been published in two anthologies: Kindling Literary Anthology Vol.1 (2013) and Kindling Literary Anthology Vol.2 (2014). Many of his works are inspired by his life experiences, music, various soliloquies, and personal relationships.
