"Yogrishi Vishvketu has become a very important teacher in my
practice. I met him in Rishikesh at Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram some
years ago and began to practice with him every morning. Since I
have known him, he has shown wisdom in yogasana and meditation, and
this shines through in his classes and inspires me to keep coming.
His authenticity and sincere love for each student is tremendously
inspiring. He is a Yogi who truly walks his talk. Watching him so
mindfully compose this book has given me an appreciation of the
legacy that he is leaving on this planet. As the world moves faster
and faster and the variations of yogasana keep changing, this
legacy and his authenticity will be appreciated in the years to
come. I salute him with great love and gratitude for the gift he
has given humanity."

""Yogasana" by Yogrishi Vishvketu is a wonderful addition to the
rich, ever-evolving experience-based yoga tradition. In this book,
Yogrishi Vishvketu takes a new look at yoga from a holistic
approach. He speaks about the physical postures and connects them
back to their energetic counterparts by explaining the posture s
relation to the flow of energy in the body, the chakras, and how to
align oneself with the cosmic energies of the universe.
Furthermore, this book is accessible to all. By taking a fresh look
at the traditional terminology of yogasana and creating (or
recreating) new names for the poses, and by providing the reader
with the chakras and yantra symbols, Vishvketu allows readers to
deepen their knowledge about yoga as a whole. He takes a new
approach to teaching the posesnot organizing them by alphabetical
order or by category, but rather by deeper root characteristics,
which allows readers to follow the poses in a natural
progression."
H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, president of Parmarth
Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh, India "In the sacred Himalayan hills of
Rishikesh, on the banks of Mother Ganga, Yogrishi Vishvketu has
masterfully excelled in the practice and teaching of yogasana. He
is a gracious, kind, and open-hearted spiritual seekerand a dear
friend. I pray that Krishna may shower auspicious blessings upon
him."
Radhanath Swami, author of "The Journey Home" "Yogrishi Vishvketu s
authenticity shines through each word on every page. He is that
rare yogi who lives and breathes the wisdom of these timeless
teachings. He flows his transformational guidance in a pure,
powerful, and inspirational way. "
davidji, author of "Secrets of Meditation"
"What a treat to read through the thoughts, theories, and history
that Yogi Vishvketu shares with such ease and grace. I have had the
good fortune of spending some time in his presence, and I do not
hesitate in saying that he is a gift to the modern yoga world.
Though yoga is going through a very interesting and dynamic shift
in theory and practice, it is of vital importance that we keep one
foot firmly planted in the field of history, as it is what informs
and influences all of what we experience today. Yogrishi Vishvketu
provides a bridge between the historical and modern approaches, and
does so in a manner that is humble, intriguing, and lovely to look
at. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to deepen their
experience of yogasana and the traditional practices available in
the rich tapestry that is yoga."
Ted Grand, founder of Moksha Yoga
""Yogasana: The Encyclopedia of Yoga Poses" by Yogrishi Vishvketu
is one of the most comprehensive volumes on yoga. The book is
written in a way that honors the traditional yogic guru-disciple
relationship. Few books of the same genre have been able to clearly
explain yogasana step-by-step like this. I know this book will be
of vital importance and use for yoga students, experienced
practitioners, and spiritual seekers alike."
Swami Amlanand Giri, founder of Tripura Yoga Ashram, Haridwar,
India
"I congratulate and convey my blessings to Yogrishi Vishvketu for
writing this practical yogasana encyclopedia. It is simple yet
comprehensive. The book is absolutely relevant and helpful for
people on the path of yoga education. It is full of wisdom, and the
naming of the postures will help to bring clarity and remove all
confusion about yogasana. I am very proud that our former student
has reached such heights."
Dr. Surendra Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Gurukula Kangri
Vishwavidyalaya University, Haridwar, India
"My heartfelt congratulations to Yogrishi Vishvketu on the
publication of this book. Vishvketu completed his MA and PhD in
Yogic Sciences under my guidance, and was a hardworking and sincere
student. I always believed he would have a bright future and
contribute further to the field of Yogic Sciences. His new book,
"Yogasana: The Encyclopedia of Yoga Poses," demonstrates an
authentic knowledge of yogasana. The book is easy to follow and
brings clarity to the naming and understanding of the postures.
This book will be a great contribution to the global yoga
community."
Professor Ishwar Bhardwaj, Head, Department of Human Consciousness
& Yogic Science, Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya University,
Haridwar, India
"To gain perspective on the vast knowledge of yoga, we have to see
through the eyes of a master practitioner. Through Yogrishi
Vishvketu s book we have the opportunity to understand the wisdom
of yoga in its true form. Yogrishi Vishvketu has brought the
age-old wisdom of traditional yogic practice to the whole world,
and this book is a must for all serious practitioners of yoga."
Dr. Anil K. Mehta, founder of Prakash Deep Institute of Ayurvedic
Sciences, Haridwar, India
"Since he was a young boy, Yogrishi Vishvketu has shown a powerful
leaning towards Yogic studies. At the age of six, he ran away from
home, trying to find an ashram in which his life s dharma could
unfold. At eight years of age, he joined my gurukul (a residential
school for Vedic learning), and he has spent the rest of his life
living Yogic traditions. His book is a great inspiration for all
yogis who wish to follow such an exemplary life. It is clear and
concise. My best wishes to Yogrishi Vishvketu."
Dr. Yogi Raj, founder & president of Gurukul Mahavidhyalaya
Kanvashram, Uttarakhand, India
"It has been a pleasure to immerse myself in the "Yogasana: The
Encyclopedia of Yoga Poses" by Yogrishi Vishvketu. It is clear that
he has taken great effort in reviving the original names of asanas,
many of which are not familiar today. The book contains a thorough
compilation of yogasana, exploring a variety of poses and providing
the tools to understand the meaning behind the pose names. As per
authentic scriptures on Yoga, it is said that 8,400,000 asanas
existed in ancient times, and we know only a few of them in the
present day. Therefore, this venture is important, since there are
not many authentic scriptures available today that reveal and
identify asanas with their original Sanskrit names. Recently, there
have been a few writers who try to interpret asanas in a wider
sense; this book will be a great compliment to those efforts."
