K-Gr 5-Lineker shows young players basic skills and rules-how to pass and tackle, control and head a ball, take a penalty, and shoot. Children of many ethnicities and of both sexes are shown in the clear, colorful photographs. A two-page spread discusses up-to-date equipment-types of shoes and studs, goal-tending gloves, and balls. Both children and adults demonstrate the various skills with numbered, step-by-step instructions. Unfortunately, there are no cautions concerning such moves as the slide tackle, which must be executed correctly to avoid becoming a foul, and ``trapping'' the ball on the chest, which could be painful if it isn't done right. On the other hand, this book is a quicker read than Caroline Arnold's Soccer (Watts, 1991), and equally valuable. Libraries needing a boost to their soccer collections should consider this title.-Blair Christolon, Prince William Library, Manassas, VA
