Set against the grandeur of the Himalayas, Indian Summers tells the rich and explosive story behind the decline of the British Empire in India.
It's 1932 and India's British power-brokers are stationed in the "little England" of Simla to govern throughout the summer. Ambitious and charismatic, Ralph Whelan (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) is a rising star in India's Civil Service, whose professional and political progress is carefully controlled by Cynthia Coffin (Julie Walters). But Cynthia's plans are disrupted by the return of Ralph's sister, Alice (Jemima West), who is herself drawn into a forbidden romance with Ralph's Indian co-worker, Aafrin Dalal (Nikesh Patel). Meanwhile, the discovery of a young Indian boy near the train tracks sparks a series of events that will rock the lives of Simla's inhabitants to the core.
With an outstanding ensemble cast, Indian Summers tells a sweeping emotional and political story set during the turbulent birth of modern India.
