A member of Slint and one of the many musicians in the Chicago post-rock band Tortoise, the guitarist Dave Pajo constructs a subdued, sylvan soundtrack of feather-light guitar fingerpicking, reminiscent of his fellow Tortoise band members' Pullman project.
Professional Reviews
Magnet (1-2/98, p.64) - "...quiet guitar notes and fluttering keyboards. [Pajo's] careful melding of individual hymns with silent spaces adds to each track's dramatic feel. Think of it as a perfected Muzak version of math rock..."
Option (3-4/98, pp.74-75) - "...a penchant for subtle variations of cyclical melodies in a well of interlocking rhythms....Pajo frequently achieves something greater than the sum of its parts."
Melody Maker (10/4/97, p.50) - "Blissful....Deceptively easy, it swipes unfamiliar melodies out of the air..."
NME (Magazine) (9/6/97, p.51) - "...The longer Pajo strums away,...the tastier his well-greased ambient-acoustic nibbles get...Something really meaty would have been nice, but, in the meantime, this'll do nicely."
