The Damnwells: David Chernis, Alex Dezen, Steven Terry, Ted Hudson.
The Damnwells write some of the catchiest hooks you'll hear anywhere. Songs from the Brooklyn band's first full-length, BASTARDS OF THE BEAT, are still probably stuck in some listeners' heads. With their sophomore release, AIR STEREO, the Damnwells incorporate some more pop elements into their roots-rock Americana, but the melodies and tight guitar work don't disappoint. Downtempo songs like "Graceless" and "Heartbreaklist" are balanced by rockers like "Sell The Lie" and "I Am A Leaver," and singer Alex Dezen's vocals once again ring clearly throughout.
Professional Reviews
CMJ (p.5) - "Subtle horns and unexpected backstage banter...occasionally sneak out of otherwise square-jawed, acoustic-led love rock."
No Depression (p.136) - "Mostly they succeed, especially because singer Alex Dezen has a voice that's melodically and romantically persuasive without being too beautiful for its own good."
