All the Best covers the first six Human League albums, from Reproduction (1979) through Romantic? (1990). It contains almost all of the group's singles from these years, as well as a healthy supply of significant album cuts. Few groups who lasted from the post-punk era through the early '90s made such radical transformations; the Human League's sci-fi post-punk ("Being Boiled," "Empire State Human"), gleaming new wave ("Don't You Want Me," "[Keep Feeling] Fascination"), mainstream ballads ("Human"), and MOR pop ("Heart Like a Wheel") phases are thoroughly covered here. Fanatics can pinpoint some unfortunate omissions -- such as "The Black Hit of Space" and their single under the alias the Men, "I Don't Depend on You" -- but this 40-track anthology provides more than a casual fan needs. ~ Andy Kellman
