German metalcore juggernaut Neaera can't be accused of coasting on the bruising, scorching ARMAMENTARIUM. Available to the rest of the world for some time, the album finally got a U.S. release in 2008, courtesy of Metal Blade. With a dynamic, focused attack that combines hardcore's rhythmic intensity with sinewy leads and avalanches of rolling drums, songs such as "Tools of Greed" and "The Orphaning" apply a suffocating stranglehold that's impossible to escape. The eleven tracks show an unrelenting intensity that's both thrilling and a little scary.
