With 2007's BRING ON THE COMETS, its second full-length outing for the Astralwerks label, VHS or Beta takes further steps away from its dance-floor-oriented roots, opting for a more straight-ahead pop/rock sound. While the New Wave-inspired Kentucky-based ensemble is still intent on creating beat-driven tunes, catchy melodies play a bigger role in the band's aesthetic, as revealed on the lively anthem "Can't Believe a Single Word" and the shimmering, keyboard-laden "Burn It All Down."
