The career of Nicke Andersson has encompassed a wide array of rock styles. As drummer for trendsetting death metal band Entombed, he helped inject hard rock swing into that usually ultra-fast genre, and that hip-shaking impulse followed him to Hellacopters. As their singer and guitarist, Andersson found himself fully immersed in the Swedish garage rock revival. BY THE GRACE OF GOD finds The Hellacopters cleaning up their sound and injecting their primal garage rhythms with power-pop/arena rock majesty. Think Cheap Trick and Thin Lizzy, even Grand Funk Railroad, and you're getting there. It's big, bright, and brawny.
