Charley Pride was country music's first African-American star, and with 30-plus number one chart hits to his name, he obviously knew what he was doing, and if he played it carefully close to the vest and kept things traditional, he did it with grace, warmth, skill, and assurance. This two-disc, 32-track set collects 24 of those number ones and spans Pride's career from 1966 to 2006, including, of course, his huge crossover hit from 1971, "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'." ~ Steve Leggett
