A good-sized chunk of Johnny Mathis' career as a pop crooner is dedicated to Christmas music and for some, his rich tenor paired with the sound of lush string arrangements defines the holiday season. His evocative late-'50s arrangements of Yuletide standards like "Silver Bells," "Sleigh Ride," and "Winter Wonderland" are bona fide holiday classics and those are culled merely from his first Christmas LP. Throughout the next five decades, Mathis would go on to record five more Christmas albums, establishing himself deeply within the holiday pop canon. The Complete Christmas Collection stays true to its title, offering a whopping 71 career-spanning Christmas tracks that range from 1958 to 2010.
