  • Sandra Collins' third major mix album, inspired by the Liverpool superclub of the same name, definitely isn't the anthemic, floor-filling set expected by fans of Britain's biggest clubnight. It's a bit harder than most progressive trance, more minimalist than her volume in the Tranceport series, and overall more reminiscent of a late-night drive than an early-morning rave. Collins paves the way with sleek, dark openers from Carissa Mondavi and Manhattan, then skips lightly over the obvious peaks and valleys most DJs insert to grab the attention of low-attention-span ravers. Make no mistake, though; Cream hits some serious high points, from the pinging submarine effects on "Chaos Engine" by Traveller & Quest to the pinpoint precise programming of Mark O'Tool's mix of "All I Want" by JBN. Doing double-duty as her own cover model, though, is just a bit exploitative; Collins has more than enough talent behind the decks for her label to worry over clubbed-up photos moving copies of this mix album. ~ John Bush
