  • William Clarke was the new harmonica genius for the millennium when his heart gave out on tour in 1996 and he passed away at age 45. This Deluxe Edition brings together 16 tracks culled primarily from his four Alligator albums along with three previously unreleased tracks from sessions conducted in 1986 and 1995, every track a winner. Clarke's tone is massive and only outdone by the wealth of ideas he constantly poured into his instrument. While others were still trying to imitate Little Walter, Clarke took the lessons he learned from George Harmonica Smith and built one of the most original and truly breathtaking styles in modern blues. Consider this disc his lasting legacy. ~ Cub Koda
Professional Reviews
Living Blues (7-8/99, pp.87-8) - "...Combining swinging, horn-leavened West Coast rhythms with Chicago-based harmonica lines, Clarke retained his traditionalism while simultaneously pushing the envelope with hius ceaseless innovations....[He] left a magnificent harp legacy..."
