An important innovator of the field of improvised music, Dutchman Ernst Reijseger plays the cello as an extension of his own voice, issuing a remarkable range of expressive timbres from his instrument. TELL ME EVERYTHING, featuring solo recordings made by Reijseger during a retreat at a former church in Italy's Chianti region, incorporates the picturesque moods of a site-specific work--complete with open-air recordings accompanied by a group of chirping birds--across 13 improvised tracks. Combining an effervescent melodic lyricism with thrashings of atonal pizzicato and muscular note-bending, TELL ME EVERYTHING showcases the off-the-cuff process of a thoughtful improviser, alone at work.
