Compilations of adult pop are released frequently enough that the appearance of another fills most fans with a sleepy feeling, but when the Hit Parade label -- already beloved for its series Teen Time: The Young Years of Rock & Roll -- released a pair of vocal compilations, the results were fine indeed. Fabulous 50s Divas Sing Their Hard-To-Find Hits spends minimal time on the popular doyennes of '50s pop, digging instead for barely known singers like Denise Lor, Jane Turzy, Betty Madigan, and Karen Chandler -- all of whom released highly popular singles during the early to mid-'50s. The likes of Rosemary Clooney, Patti Page, Teresa Brewer, Dinah Shore, and Sarah Vaughan are also given their due, but rarely with their most popular recordings. Altogether, it's an excellent set for any fan of vocal pop wanting to add to their collection without too much fear of duplication. ~ John Bush
