  • Chicane's debut album is a perfect introduction to their world--a winning variant on ambient house music, showcased on such singles as the beautiful "Offshore" and "Sunstroke." In fact it was "Offshore" that caught DJ Pete Tong's attention in late 1996 and subsequently headed for the UK Top 20. It has a strong Balearic flavor and a sound that suggests the influence of Way Out West.
  • The vocal cuts on this album are equally rewarding. "Strong In Love" in particular, with its catchy "say it again" hook, is a fine track, and the vocal cut of "Offshore" is also included. One of main man Nick Bracegirdle's finest moments, however, is "Lost You Somewhere," a trance track with a powerful, slightly darker edge. Ambient interludes add to the appeal and help to make this a fine summer album to which you can either dance or just chill out. It makes a great warm-up for a club night--close your eyes and you could almost be in Ibiza's Cafe Del Mar!
