Performer Notes
  • Elusive yet infamous New London, Connecticut-based garage band the Condo Fucks returned in 2009 with this set of raucous garage covers. The band released four extremely rare albums on Matador in the 1990s (so rare in fact that many debate their very existence) before retreating to the shadows of the indie underground. A triumphant return to the spotlight, FUCKBOOK features fuzzed-out, lo-fi run-throughs of tunes made famous by Slade, the Troggs, the Small Faces, and the Beach Boys, among others. With an off-the-cuff feel that plays (exactly) like a punkier version of Yo La Tengo's lovely FAKEBOOK, FUCKBOOK should make long time fans of the Condofucks rejoice. Fans of Yo La Tengo might want to take a very close listen here as well.
Professional Reviews
Blender (Magazine) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Yo La's gentle side naturally peeks out. They wrap the Kinks' tender 'This Is Where I Belong' in an argyle sweater of comfy drone..."

Signal To Noise (magazine) (p.73) - "[I]t just sounds like Yo La Tengo screwing around and having fun....This is a wonderful development."
