One of the best compilations of Frank Sinatra's work with the Tommy Dorsey band, this comprehensive 3-CD set represents some of the finest music from the Golden Age of Swing. Included here are gems like "Polka Dots and Moonbeams," "Stardust," "Everything Happens to Me," and "Say It," as well as heartwarming versions of "Too Romantic" and "The Night We Called It a Day." The arrangements frame Sinatra's voice beautifully, and the rhythm section, which includes legendary drummer Buddy Rich, keeps the groove relaxed, but not too square. This isn't the confident, seen-it-all, ring-a-ding-ding swinger of the 1950s and '60s, but a very young, very romantic singer still under the influence of the crooner-king Bing Crosby. The Dorsey band sound is marked by an easy, swaying pulse, and Sinatra's voice flows like hot fudge.
