  • Written and arranged with partner/producer Willie Mitchell, FULL OF FIRE is a steamy and sentimental collection of love songs that were written after a series of tumultuous events in Green's personal life. Included on this 10th release from Green are the disco-influenced, chart-topping title track and the slow, sensual honky-tonk,"That's The Way It Is". Enhanced by string and horn arrangements, the anachronistic "Always" makes for an interesting departure from Green's trademark soul formula. The bluesy "There's No Way" is a moving song of remorse over a lost love, and the minor R&B hit, "I'd Fly Away" has glorious harmonies that draw on the increased influence of gospel on Green's material. Green's romantic lyrics and unique, impassioned falsetto make him one of the definitive vocalists of '70s bedtime soul.
