Veteran composer Jeff Beal returns for Season Two of Netflix's dark political drama House of Cards. Building on the moody atmospherics of his first season's score, Beal continues to flesh out the uncompromising and ruthless world of politician Frank Underwood (played by Kevin Spacey), using somber synthesizer tones, strings, and ominous percussion paired with stately trumpet, parts, which add a vaguely patriotic element to this Washington D.C.-based show. ~ Timothy Monger
