With her lone smash hit as the centerpiece, Barbara George's A.F.O. album from 1962 is surprisingly free of filler, almost a prerequisite in those singles-dominated times. Her follow-up hit, "Talk About Love," is also aboard, and other highlights include nice takes of "Since I Fell for You," the bouncy "Don't Ask Me No Questions," and the soulful ballad "Honest I Do." With top-notch playing from Harold Battiste and others, this is classic early-'60s New Orleans music all the way. Later reissued as part of Collectables' Golden Classics series. ~ Cub Koda
