Warsaw Village Band: Magdalena Sobczak Ktnarowska (vocals, dulcimer); Sylwia Swiatkowska (vocals, suka, violin, fiddle); Maja Kleszcz (vocals, cello); Wojtek Krzak (violin, drum); Piotr Glinski (drum, percussion); Maciej Szajkowski (drum).
The Warsaw village band have been perfecting their energetic, distinctly modern take on traditional Polish folk music since the late 1990s. Though the group's instrumentation--frame drums, hand drums, violins and dulcimers--replicates the essential instrumental lineup of countless traditional Polish acts, they perform with the brio and exuberance of a punk outfit, and their recordings feature spacious, reverb-heavy production that emphasizes the hypnotic, trance-like qualities of Polish music. INFINITY is the first of the group's efforts to feature entirely original compositions.
