  • While she was initially presented to the world as a protege of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott and Timbaland, Charlene "Tweet" Keys immediately proved herself no mere follower, with the delectable and diverse debut SOUTHERN HUMMINGBIRD. On IT'S ME AGAIN, Tweet confirms her independence with a remarkably adventurous record that is smoothly seductive and giddily fun at the same time. Here Tweet creates clever, original, and moving songs that straddle the line somewhere between neo-soul and modern mainstream R&B, wrapping her sweet-and-sultry voice around each tune with wicked effect. And, of course, having Elliott's able, artful production on most songs certainly doesn't hurt.
  • After the intro track, IT'S ME AGAIN cuts to the impressive single "Turn Da Lights Out," featuring wispy vocals backed by a captivating, crackling vinyl backdrop. Hip-hop, jazz, and R&B are mixed flawlessly on "Could It Be," a darkly beautiful ballad sung with Rell. On "You," Tweet drops wildly inventive lines of heartbreak over a breakbeat interpolation of Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" for a starkly inventive and thoroughly catchy song. By then, it's clear that Tweet is not your ordinary R&B chanteuse, and IT'S ME AGAIN is definitely not your ordinary record.
Professional Reviews
Vibe (pp.165-166) - 4 discs out of 5 - "Tweet delves deep and keeps on digging. She's finally reached a layer of hard-earned healing on IT'S ME AGAIN, making it well worth the wait..."
