Chip and Tony, the Kinman brothers, have fronted many bands since the '70s: the raw, Clash-like punk rock of the Dils; the proto-country-punk hybrid of Rank & File; the quirky, drum machine-based alt-rock Blackbird. Their latest incarnation is Cowboy Nation, a primarily acoustic trio inspired by the pre-Nashville Sound of Western music.
The Kinman brothers sing of riding the range, badmen wandering the western frontier, and being on a lonely trail far from home. JOURNEY features immaculately-picked yet rhythmically forceful acoustic guitars, deep, drawling vocals with warm Everly Brothers-style harmony, and simple, understated percussion. This album evokes the camaraderie of people singing for each other around a campfire or on a back porch.

Mojo (Publisher) (6/01, p.101) - "...A wonderful collection of haunting, campfire country. Or more accurately, 'western'..."
