Producers: Julie Doiron, The Wooden Stars, Lloyd Hanson.
Recorded at Lloyd Hanson's Studio, New Brunswick, Canada, 1999.
Awarded a JUNO in Canada for best alternative album, this beautiful and intimate recording is a true treasure. Julie Doiron and The Wooden Stars perform like a tightened-up Bettie Serveert. The band rarely rock out, but the interplay of the multiple guitar parts is both haunting and hypnotic. Julie's lovely voice lays somewhere between those of Bettie Serveert's Carol Van Dijk and the Spinanes' Rebecca Gates, and is recorded dry and up front, so every delicate nuance is audible.
Sad and sweet, this disc is full of little wonderful moments. Listen to it alone and give it your full attention.

Magnet (4-5/00, pp.70-1) - "...Doiron's ululations are of the hush-hush, broken-down-in-the-middle-of-the-night variety....You'll fall in love with this...peaceful, dream-filled slumber."
