  • Originally released in 1951, LIVE AT BIRDLAND got gussied up with digital remastering and released on CD in 2007. Taken from a series of broadcasts recorded at New York City's famous Birdland jazz club, LIVE finds Lester Young playing with the Count Basie Orchestra, the Steve Allen House Band, trumpeter Jesse Drake, pianist Earl Knight, and others. The track list includes "Oh, Lady Be Good," "Lester Leaps In," and "These Foolish Things," with Prez's smooth, lyrical tenor holding court throughout.
