ORCHESTRA OF BUBBLES is truly greater than the sum of its parts, and it's an album made of some pretty wonderful parts. Ellen Allien brings to the album her brand of cool, precise techno, while her co-conspirator Apparat, also known as Sascha Ring, has developed a more syncopated, obsessively detailed sound. The result is a richly layered collaboration that excels in both its atmospheres and its minutiae--it's moving without being cloying, and flows smoothly but never on a perfectly even keel.
