Performer Notes
  • In Our Heads is one of Hot Chip's most confident, joyous, and danceable albums yet; if the band's previous album, 2010's One Life Stand, was about how seriously they take the relationships in their lives, then this album explores how much fun they have in them. The single "Night and Day" and "Motion Sickness" hint at a slightly happier band than their previous album, 2010's One Life Stand, while the slow-burning, eight-minute track "Flutes" lets Hot Chip indulge their more experimental side. The album's final tracks "Let Me Be Him" and "Always Been Your Love" nod to One Life Stand's romantic streak, but In Our Heads has something for every kind of Hot Chip fan.
Professional Reviews
Rolling Stone (p.79) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "There's unguarded joy in the British quintet's mix of synthed-up grooves and pop songfulness on tracks like 'Don't Deny Your Heart.'"

Billboard (p.28) - "[A] return to form for the British quintet....Absurdly hooky romantic pop sits atop beds of transfigured techno, house and funk beats all crisply self-produced..."

Q (Magazine) (p.111) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Nobody else could pull off this tripartite blend of humour, anxiety and glee."

Mojo (Publisher) (p.82) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Hot Chip are clearly having a lot of fun....An album that's a steady pleasure from start to finish."

Uncut (magazine) (p.74) - "With this one weighted heavily towards the dancefloor, there's no shortage of sublime moments when the likes of 'Let Me Be Him' and 'Flutes' unravel."
