  • As the lead vocalist and harpist of the legendary Irish group Clannad and as a solo artist, Maire Brennan has placed herself alongside her sister Enya (who was also a member of the group) at the fore of world music's new-age contingent. With PERFECT TIME, she continues in the Clannad tradition, melding the mysterious ancient traditions of Ireland with such modernities as loops and programming. Comparisions to her slightly more mainstream sibling are unavoidable, though Maire's approach is more traditional-sounding, with a heavy lyrical emphasis on religion, particularly Christianity.
  • PERFECT TIME features plenty of the lush vocal harmonies which so distinctly mark Clannad's music. This can make for a solemn, almost druidic effect, such as on "Na Paisti," one of several Irish-language songs on the album, and one of a large majority of religiously themed tracks. "Heal This Land" is a call for faith and peace in Brennan's troubled country, intoned earnestly over sparse programmed accompaniment. "Song Of David" features a children's choir performing an Irish translation of the Biblical plea for mercy and blessing.
