Start Entertainment's 40-track overview of Patsy Cline's career comes in a nice double-disc set dubbed Platinum Collection. For the most part, this disc focuses more on the lesser-known tracks Cline recorded; in fact, the only hits covered here are "Walking After Midnight" and "A Poor Man's Roses (Or a Rich Man's Gold)," the latter of which was Cline's first charted record, but never cracked the Top Ten on the Country Singles chart. Because of this, Platinum Collection is somewhat misleading in its title and certainly doesn't qualify as an essential set -- that slot is already filled by MCA's excellent 12 Greatest Hits and the double-disc set Ultimate Collection on UTV. As a companion piece to either of these collections, Platinum Collection makes a worthy set; It's just not the place to become familiar with Cline ~ Gregory McIntosh
