  • Big Eye hired a bunch of up-and-comers for this Tribute to Green Day. The results are better than what the label's stable of studio cats would probably have come up with; however, the set still isn't essential for anyone but the hardest core Green Day fan. Best is probably Imaginary Bill's take on "She"; the Brooklynites opt for a ragged power pop sound over trying to replicate the feted group's tried 'n' true Buzzcocks sting. [The tribute also includes a random catalog, one song each, from the Germs, Dead Kennedys, and the Exploited in an attempt to show off Green Day's roots, and to pad the set list.] ~ Johnny Loftus
