Performer Notes
  • Liner Note Author: Bill Dahl.
  • Shreveport, Louisiana's Jewel Records, although perhaps not as well known as the Stax, Atlantic, or Chess labels, was every bit as vital to the blossoming of soul and funk in the 1970s, and a good deal of that soul and funk crosshatched into Jewel's gospel releases during that era, the story that is presented here in this very cool set of vintage funky soul-gospel. ~ Steve Leggett
