  • This collection of vintage style blues is quite enjoyable. Paul Geremia, who is heard on guitar, piano, harmonica, and vocals, is joined by veteran violinist Howard Armstrong and bassist Roxy McLeod on some selections; seven of the 14 performances are unaccompanied. In addition to seven Geremia originals, there are tunes by Skip James, Leroy Carr, Charlie Patton ("Shake It and Break It"), Jesse Fuller, Leadbelly, and Blind Willie McTell ("Drive Away Blues"). Geremia's easy-to-take delivery, heartfelt sincerity, and understanding of 1930s country blues make this a CD well worth searching for. ~ Scott Yanow
Professional Reviews
Living Blues (9-10/95, p.103) - "Acoustic guitarist, pianist, and harp player Paul Geremia mixes original tunes and prewar covers on this album....the album includes some great music in the string-band vein."

Sing Out! (8-10/95, p.138) - "...Geremia has become a master of the idiom, worthy of discussion alongside Blind Willie McTell, Pink Anderson and the other traditional legends he started out emulating..."
