Ligabue's third studio album became an unwilling turning point in his career. Featuring more elaborate instrumental parts, a harder sound, and more thoughtful, somber lyrics, it was meant to be the singer breakthrough. However, sales were disappointing and soon after its release Ligabue parted ways with producer Angelo Carrara and backing band Clan Destino, the team responsible for his first three records. Sopravvissuti e Sopravviventi has been greatly reappraised over time, and is now a favorite with hardcore fans, particularly because it includes two of Ligabue's most beloved ballads, "Walter il Mago," and "Ho Messo Via." ~ Mariano Prunes
