The German eight-piece ensemble the Jazz O'Maniacs continue to demonstrate their love of early New Orleans jazz on the live set SUNSET CAF STOMP. The Jazz O'Maniacs cull most of their repertoire from Louis Armstrong's HOT FIVES AND HOT SEVENS recordings (which will give listeners a clear sense of where the outfit's heart lies), with a Fats Waller number and a King Oliver tune thrown in for good measure. The 40-some years the Jazz O'Maniacs have been around (by the time of this release) shows in their masterful handling of the hot jazz idiom and their wild, hard-swinging sense of fun.
