Performer Notes
  • The second outing from M.O.D., this collection of metallic novelty tracks reinforced the group's status as perhaps the flimsiest metal joke band of their time. The cover of "Surfin' U.S.A." is well executed and the polka-beat doo wop of "Color My World" also has its moments, but there isn't much else that will inspire a good laugh here. Frontman Billy Milano half-sings his way through this Megaforce EP, waxing ecstatic about the party life while his band churns out stop-and-go metal that is lightweight, but palatable. Fans of '80s East Coast metal best presented by Anthrax and other goofball metal groups like Ludichrist/Scatterbrain and Infectious Grooves might take a liking to this M.O.D. offering. It should be said, however, that the group never possessed the comic timing, intelligence, and especially the musical chops of these better-known acts. Fans of M.O.D. who haven't yet checked out Surfin' M.O.D. are encouraged to do so, as the boys are most in their element on this recording. ~ Vincent Jeffries
