A quartet of brothers with an unerring ability to vocally mimic all the instruments in a jazz orchestra, particularly the horns, the Mills Brothers were arguably at their best when they eschewed the direct pop elements in their style for a more jazz-oriented approach. This delightful collection assembles several of their 1930s efforts and the end result is a remarkably seamless sequence of vocal gems. Check out the version here of "Sweet Georgia Brown," which is done in an almost soothing hum, and remember that those horns you're hearing are not horns at all, but voices, and you'll undoubtedly find yourself hooked for life on this truly amazing vocal group. ~ Steve Leggett
