  • Those who questioned whether Natalie Cole had either the will or skill to succeed with another session of pre-rock popular music need wonder no more. There are another 18 jazz-tinged and early pop numbers, with some unexpected pleasures ("Calypso Blues," "It's Sand Man") and spectacular triumphs ("Cry Me a River," "Fiesta in Blue," "I'm Beginning to See the Light"). Cole is now completely comfortable with the pacing, flow, and sensibility of pre-rock material; she has no problems with articulation or delivery, either. ~ Ron Wynn
Professional Reviews
Rolling Stone (9/2/93, p.61) - 3 1/2 Stars - Very Good - "...a project that's just as much a labor of love as UNFORGETTABLE and just as shrewd in its choice of material....excellent showcases for Cole's warm, elegant singing..."

Entertainment Weekly (6/25/93, p.104) - "...moves her definitively out of her father's shadow....She makes the tunes dance--and with the fun she's clearly having, she's hard to resist..." - Rating: B+
