  • A compilation of tracks from El Capitan and All Used Up: A Scrapbook, The Telling Takes Me Home is a quick tour around the styles of Utah Phillips, whose music and concerns incorporate several genres of folk and country (and comedy as well, this being the gentleman who gave the world "Moose-Turd Pie"). Phillips is a compelling performer, a bear-like presence who commands attention through his music. This 20-track collection could serve as a very good introduction, especially with the extensive song notes Phillips has provided (this is a very thick booklet). ~ Steven E. McDonald
