  • Welcome to the new sound of the Hare Krishnas. Rasa's Hans Christian and Kim Waters, both strongly influenced by the teachings of Hare Krishna founder Swami Prabhupada, stay true to the sect's ethos of dance-worthy Hindu devotionals. But the duo extends its palette beyond the conventional hand cymbals and harmonium, achieving a mix that can appeal to anyone, Hindu or otherwise.
  • Like her contemporary, Azam Ali, singer Kim Waters draws upon the vocal traditions of medieval Europe, except here the lyrics are in Sanskrit rather than Latin. At their best, as on the danceable "Samsara" and "Nrsimha Prayers," Waters' looped vocals become trance-like, and Christian's infectious arrangements take over.
