On its second major label outing, UNTIL THERE'S NOTHING LEFT OF US, Kill Hannah presents another sharply honed set of alternative-rock songs that proudly borrow from the sounds of late-1990s Smashing Pumpkins and Placebo (see the propulsive, guitar-laden "Lips Like Morphine"). The Chicago-based group also makes clear nods to the late '80s in its fairly faithful cover of the Church's jangle-pop classic "Under the Milky Way," proving that Kill Hannah is acutely aware of its modern-rock lineage.
